Site Development at Camp Seminole Minimize

Dear Fellow Scouters:

I am pleased to share with you the most recent aerial photographs taken at Camp Seminole. As you can see the land clearing, roads and building pads are progressing steadily as we begin the important rebuilding process. These are very important and exciting times for our local Scouting program and we need every ones “Can do Attitude” to make our dreams a reality. We have adopted a theme entitled “One Mission, One Vision and One Movement” and I know together we can accomplish great things.

We have launched an aggressive Capital Development Campaign called Mission Possible to raise the needed funds to rebuild both Camp Seminole and Camp Sawyer. You may be pleased to know, we have already received several lead gifts from generous community donors and the South Florida Council has also made a significant investment of more than $5-million to begin construction. Our objective is to make Camp Seminole and Camp Sawyer the finest Camping facilities in the BSA.

Thank you for all that you do to support Scouting. I am confident with your leadership we can achieve all of our objectives. It’s going to be an exciting year for our Scouts and for our local Scouting movement! Please feel free to distribute the attached photo’s to your appropriate contacts.

Camp Seminole after Hurricane Wilma

As you can see in the photos, the majority of the trees fell to the ground and others were killed by the wind force of the storm. In addition, with the uprooting of the trees, the majority of the underground utilities were also destroyed.

July 2010 Status  Check out the latest photos! The bathroom/shower houses are nearly complete, as are the program pavilions at aquatics, scoutcraft, and the archery and air rifle ranges. On the north side of the lake, the new dock is completed and sand has been brought in for the beach.  The front gate stands ready to welcome campers back to Camp Seminole!
