 South Florida Centennial Events Minimize
The Centennial of Scouting only happens once!
Join the celebration of the century!
To commemorate the 100th year of Scouting, the Acitivities Committee developed a patch program for all major events. The 2009 Scout Extreme Games was the official kickoff of the year of celebration, where each paid participant received the center round patch and the 2009 Scout Extreme Games rocker. If you missed the kickoff, the center patch is available for $5. At future events, the rocker will be available for participants.  After the event has occurred and while supplies last each rocker can be purchased  for $3.  Attend every event and collect all the patches!

Celebrating 100 Years - A Year of Celebration Minimize

For 100 years, the Boy Scouts of America has created a strong foundation of leadership, service, and community for millions of America’s youth. Through A Year of Celebration, A Century of Making a Difference, we will demonstrate the incredible impact of a century of living the Scout Law.

Program participants will earn recognition for making a difference in their communities due to their dedication to five of Scouting’s core values: Leadership, Character, Community Service, Achievement, and the Outdoors. Participants will be able to earn our 100th Anniversary commemorative patch.

A Year of Celebration will take place from September 1, 2009 through December 31, 2010. The program is open to all Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venturers, and Scouting alumni.
Click on the patch for more information and requirements for each ribbon.

Additionally, the BSA has also teamed up with some great organizations to offer unique 100th Anniversary service projects that can apply towards your Year of Celebration Service award. These national opportunities will truly show what Scouts can do when they band together towards a shared goal.

For 100 years, the Boy Scouts of America has created a strong foundation of leadership, service, and community for America’s youth. Through A Year of Celebration, we celebrate this legacy and commit ourselves to inspire and prepare future generations.

The patch and ribbons are available for purchase only at the Miami Scout Shop.

 MISSION POSSIBLE UPDATES! Minimize

Be sure to check out the individual pages for Camp Seminole and Camp Sawyer. Both properties are moving forward as support allows. We will do our best to get our Scouts back to camping as soon as possible.

Mission Possible is a volunteer and community effort designed to finance the needed capital projects of the South Florida Council. The campaign runs through 2010 and specifically identifies $12-million in new construction projects to rebuild Camp Seminole and Camp Sawyer following the devastation caused by Hurricane Wilma in October of 2005. Mission Possible is one of the most significant endeavors in our council’s history. Camp Seminole has been closed since the storm and it’s critical we get our “kids back to camping”. The SFC has worked with a professional team of architects, engineers and planners to create a Comprehensive Master Development Plan that addresses our facility needs for Scouting’s next generation.

If you have any leads on individuals, companies, or foundations that would consider an investment for the camp redevelopment, please contact Mike Dames or Joshua Christ at the council office and we will meet with you to discuss naming opportunities and other ways to help rebuild. Our mission remains to open our camps as soon as possible.
